Desire to take on a new challenge.
Talk about contrasting roles. I went from rolling down a lake at 70 mph plus to going to an office wearing a coat and tie. What does this prove? Several things come to mind. The first, God does have a sense of humor. As I was winding down my career as a professional angler, I would have bet my boat and truck, I was not going to take a job that required a coat and tie everyday. I could almost guarantee you this would NEVER happen in my lifetime. Never say the word “never”!
How did this happen? Well, the truth of the matter is, I have been a client at the firm I am now working at since 1998. As a professional athlete, it was up to me to set up my family’s retirement plans. To do that I needed professional help. I reached out to a Financial Advisor who had a love for the outdoors. He did a nice job of explaining the moving parts in the market for many years. I was a quick study. Then add to the fact I have worked for; Citgo, Timex, Advance Auto Parts, Purolator, Land of Lakes. These companies really gave me the opportunity to understand how their business works on the marketing side and how the markets affect their ability to execute all their strategies throughout the corporate space!
When I retired from professional angling, my bucket list was small and my desire for a new career was very specific. My top priorities for a new career would allow me to be home more so I could spend more time with my family and friends, I also wanted a career where I could truly help people. Through MUCH prayer and a lot of conversation with my family, I elected to enter into the financial world. I have sat in the clients seat since 1998, and have been in the corporate world for over 20 years of my professional career. I had a desire to take on a challenge that can be a difference maker for a lot of people.
With combined experience of over 70 years in the industry, we are the largest team in our complex. In all my years in the “working world”, I can honestly say this is the most incredible group of people who I have ever had the privilege to work with. We are a true family in every sense of the word. We focus on helping our clients reach their long term financial goals by a very systematic planning process that requires continual communication. We become an extension of our clients. I think one of the biggest things that separates us from our competition is our clients become our friends. A client once said, “This group truly cares about the people they work with.” That is the best compliment anyone can pay someone in this business!
